What Van Size Do I Need?
- LWB Van: Studio flat, one-bedroom with light furniture, single-item collections, IKEA run with 3–4 items, Gothic Quarter and old town moves requiring small-vehicle access
- Sprinter: 1–2 bedroom apartment, medium furniture collection from IKEA, office equipment moves, student room-sets
- Luton: 2–3 bedroom flat, full house removals, large IKEA shop, Sarrià or Sant Cugat villas

What Affects the Price?
Stair carries
No lift means more labour time per item. In Eixample, most buildings have lifts — but the original cage lifts are only 60cm wide. Large flat-packs and assembled furniture often won't fit and need stair-carrying. Add approximately 15–20 minutes per floor for heavy items requiring two people.
Distance and parking
Cross-city moves (e.g. Gràcia to Sant Cugat) add drive time. Parking and access time in the Gothic Quarter or El Born can add 30–60 minutes to any job — factor this in when estimating.
Volume vs time
Hourly billing means a well-prepared move (boxes packed, furniture disassembled, lifts pre-booked) costs significantly less than a disorganised one. We always give fixed quotes when the scope is clear — this protects you from time overruns.
Van size matters more than you think
An undersized van means multiple trips, which costs more and takes longer. When in doubt, book one size up. An LWB van with a 1-bedroom's worth of stuff and one trip is almost always cheaper than a Sprinter with two partial trips.
Avoiding Hidden Charges
Ask every company you contact these questions before booking:
- Is VAT (IVA) included in your quoted rate?
- Are fuel costs included?
- Are motorway tolls included for long-distance routes?
- Is there a minimum booking duration?
- Is there an out-of-hours surcharge for early morning starts?
- Are ZER-compliant vans used as standard (not at extra cost)?

Fixed Price vs Hourly: Which Is Better?
For well-defined moves (known inventory, known floors, known distance), a fixed price is almost always better — it removes uncertainty and protects you if the job runs long. For very short or unpredictable jobs (a single item, or a storage unit clear-out where you're not sure what's inside), hourly might suit you better.
