How It Works

1

Piano survey

We need the piano type (upright, baby grand, full grand), its current location (floor, lift or stairs), and the destination. An upright in a fifth-floor Eixample flat with a 60cm lift cage is a fundamentally different job from a baby grand on the ground floor of a Sarrià house.

2

Specialist equipment arrives

Our piano-moving team arrives with a piano board, specialist stair-climbing trolley, padded blankets, and heavy-duty ratchet straps. The right equipment is critical — piano moving without specialist kit risks damage to both the instrument and the building.

3

Careful extraction and transit

We extract the piano from its current location, protecting staircase walls and banisters throughout. The piano is secured in the van with the keyboard facing up and padded on all sides.

4

Delivery and positioning

We deliver and position the piano exactly where you want it. We recommend waiting 48 hours after a move before having the piano tuned — the strings need time to settle at the new temperature and humidity.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you move a piano from an Eixample building with a tiny lift?

Yes — this is our most common piano scenario in Barcelona. Many Eixample modernista buildings have original lift cages only 60cm wide, far too small for any upright piano. We carry pianos on staircase-rated piano boards. For upper floors (third floor and above), we assess whether an external crane or window lift is more practical than a stair-carry. We discuss this at the survey stage and never attempt a move that risks the instrument.

How much does it cost to move a piano in Barcelona?

An upright piano moved within the same building or between two ground-floor addresses starts from €180. Stair-carry up or down two flights adds €80–120. Above four flights or in buildings with no suitable lift, we assess individually and crane hire may be necessary. Grand piano moves start from €350 due to disassembly requirements.

Do you disassemble grand pianos?

Yes. Grand pianos are disassembled for moving — the lid, music desk, pedal lyre, and legs are removed. We reassemble fully at the destination. This takes approximately one hour per end. We use felt blankets on all surfaces and the soundboard is never placed face-down. All grand piano moves are done by a minimum three-person team.

Will the piano need tuning after a move?

Almost certainly, yes. Any piano move is likely to affect tuning due to temperature and humidity changes in transit. We recommend waiting 48 hours after delivery before booking a tuner, to allow the piano to acclimatise to the new space. We can refer you to piano tuners in Barcelona who are familiar with post-move tuning requirements.

Can you move a piano from Barcelona to another city?

Yes. Long-distance piano moves to Madrid, Valencia, or anywhere in Spain are available. The piano travels in a dedicated van with specialist padding. For UK-bound pianos, additional crating may be required — we can advise on this when quoting.
